The peakier they are, the more headroom you need. I think 3:1 is moderate for a compressor, depending on where the threshold is set. Also, a LOT depends on the design of the compressor or limiter. It's not just a numbers game in which the same setting sound the same on two different compressors.Ty Fordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18159684376930077808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4614473778857864064.post-82395149825043599532014-09-25T23:06:48.527-04:002014-09-25T23:06:48.527-04:00Thanks for such a detailed review, Ty. I'm hoping to be able to learn these basics and more when it comes to audio and video. I am not too crazy personally about the interchangeable accessories. Some H4ns exhibit some phenomenal batteries draining, 30 min reportedly. The only way to figure this out is to collect reviews from owners one year into their experience. After all this read it feels like I don't need to go through the manual after all !MOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09153990956796418163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4614473778857864064.post-41547760637172521632014-08-15T11:27:00.082-04:002014-08-15T11:27:00.082-04:00Would you care to elaborate which compressor/limit...Would you care to elaborate which compressor/limitor settings you'd recommend, if any? Assuming I'm not an old schooler? The independent third party documentation I'm reading says anything with a ratio of over 5:1 is a limiter, and a hard one at that. Other sources recommend mainly ratios of around 3:1. Talking about the typical interview situation...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08946469859142924449noreply@blogger.com
